Now I have a Schaefer traveler. I just discovered that they don't recommend bending traveler track at home. Arrghh...My choice is to either make a template of the deck camber in front of the lazarette and have it bent by Schaefer, or make a spacer from either Oak or Teak to give the track a flat mounting surface.
I have seen pictures of Ariels with spacers under the track to clear the old block mounts. My rough measurement last night was that the camber is about 1 1/2 -2" center to edge. Has anyone done either one and how did it come out??

Do a search on "traveler" or "main sheet traveler" and you will get more info and pics of some system setups.

In our case (#76) the carpenter used one of those things that look like a bunch of rods hanging off a straight edge to measure the curve of the deck and the indents for the block pads Pearson molded into the deck. The resulting track base is about 1/2 inch thick at the center and about 3+ inches thick at the outer edges.

I want to thank everyone for participating. I saw Bill's traveler that's a nice setup.

I now have a template for the camber on the aft deck area. The box I chose was exactly wide enough. Being lucky helps.
I spent some time on the phone with Schaefer Marine this afternoon. I was told that because of the sail area, and the fact I was using adjustable stops instead of line adjusters, and because I am using a 4 wheel car, there should not be any problem with bending the track to match the camber. They said they wanted to do it because they have the equipment, which made sense.
In terms of maintenance, it makes sense to mount the track directly on the deck. I think I am headed that way. Thanks for all the help and pictures
