Does anyone have, or could draw me a crossection of the companion slider. The PO of my boat had removed whatever pieces that kept the companion hatch from lifting off the metal slides. So some kind of description looking straight on from the cockpit would be extremely helpful.

I am closing in on completion of a total refit of Hull #331 and will make a post of the process when I am done.

Thanks Tim

This may not be close enough to help...

Thanks Kyle, but you are right, I need to see under that edge to see what actually keeps the cover from lifting off. From that perspective mine looks exactly like that but will lift up when closed. Not completely off, as the front edge is locked on, but I am sure that the rear of it should not be able to lift.

This is a picture of the inside of my companionway hatch. You can see there is an aluminum piece that was glassed into the hatch that hooks over the edge of the flat aluminum slides.

Ugh, that is what I was afraid of, mine has been removed. Guess I have some more glasswork ahead of me (I thought I was done :))

Thanks Jerry, BTW, love the work you have done on yours, though curse you for setting the bar so high I can no longer reach it ;)

What on earth would possess a PO to remove that under-hatch hardware?

A thief braking into the boat, Or failed bonding material. If I remember right, there is a layer of wood under the aluminum track which may have rotted or froze and popped off.
