I have recently purchased hull number 350. The boat is basically very sound, but someone has messed around with the interior. I want to bring the interior back to as close to original as possible. The boat has had the atomic four removed and an outboard motor well was installed. I have recently removed a head and the holding tank in the V-berth area and plan on putting in a porta potty. A lot of the forward area was chopped up to accomodate the head and holding tank. I am very experienced in marine carpentry so I am capable of doing a really nice job. I just need some pictures and a few words of advice and encouragement. Anyone have some photos they could share? When I purchased the boat I was given some factory blue prints showing the atomic four engine installation measurements, and a full size template\blueprint of the rudder assembly. I would be happy to share these with anyone who could use them. I have a number of other sailboats and power boats and this little lady is rapidly becoming my favorite. Thanks in advance for any help you kind folks might provide. Oh by the way, I live in the San Juan Islands, so the boat can be sailed year around. If anyone from the association comes up this way, my boat would be available to be sailed by association members. This is fantastic sailing country

I posted a whole boat-load (no pun intended) of interior pictures of #66.

To find them
--select Technical from the Discussion categories
--scroll down...at the lower right it says "last 30 days"; change this to "last 60 days" and hit GO
--scroll down to the lower right again and click on page 2
--Now scroll down a bit and look for "#66 before..."

Admittedly, #66 is in bad shape, so it is not the best of examples, but the pictures do show the original Ariel layout. I have more if you are interested.

I'm starting to restore her now, and will be making some changes to the interior.

Here is the galley.

Painting it white helps to make it appear larger.

The main salon is quite luxurious.

Ariel owners seem to favor those curtains.

Steven,

For what it's worth (and it ain't much), I have removed all of the cabinetry from #66 and I don't plan on reusing it. If you want it, it is yours.

Some of it, such as the icebox, has a bit of rot here and there and may not be worth reusing, but there are some parts that are good, and any part of it could be used for templates.

Obviously Cape Cod is a long way from the San Juan islands, so it may not be worth it to you, but on the off chance you are...

In case anyone else is interested, let me know. Obviously it will be easier if you can drive to Cape Cod, but bits & pieces could probably be shipped at a reasonable cost.

My interior has been significantly upgraded from the original laminate, but this will give you an idea of what it could look like.

Very nice.

I'm gonna get me some curtains like that. Like a Broadway show.

Then I can have dancing girls emerge from behind the curtains, and gyrate around my metal compression post. Kinda like at the topless clubs (not that I know anything about that).

Hey, a guy can dream. I'm tired of dreaming about finishing my interior.

Look! Now they're calling me "Rear Commodore"

Is that like the "Assman" from Seinfeld?

I know Bill is behind this one.

You can always think of Rear Commander as a fall back position

[Ps: I've looked all over the floor and out the door for the remaminder of drm910's picture. Is it just my monitor or does the right size only work on city applainces rather than thjis country one?]
