    Should I or not

I recently salvaged this boat from my buddies dock the cabin was flooded out I pumped it out the floor in there is very soft. I'm new to sailing but I was going to try and fix it up to sail. I'm not sure if it is worth it or not it has all sails and rigging looks ok. Other than that I don't no what to look for so I was wondering if there is anything I should look at before I under take this project. The boat is 65 commander no hull number that I could find . Any input would be appreciated thanks

    Thumbs up You Should...

after you look up every Commander thread on this website -
And make a decision then what level of refurbish you want to do.

I would start by looking at an early model Commander rehab by paulproesser C #5.

Our boats have a way of appearing different when photoghraphed from different angles.
Your Commander looks like it has an extended cabin, shortened cockpit, I'm not sure.

This wedsite here is an amazing resource, if you really want to fix her up.

Later EDIT: What Mike says below is right on!
Perhaps the best pedigree ID is to get a look at the body below the waterlins
and what lind of ballast does she have.

I don't think it's a Commander. Different sized portals, the cabin front is too square, and the cockpit looks way too short. I was just trying to figure out what it might be.

Once again I marvel at your impecable eye, Mike. I glanced over her way too fast. But hey, the price is right for a starter. If you think this is something you want to persue, Travis, you can always "upgrade"* down the road!

I'm pretty sure it's a commander the portholes looks as if they have been replaced. The interior looks like one cockpit is big the pic might be a little deseving . It would be my first sailboat I'm gonna at least get it in decent sailing condition . I got it for free in the process of getting the title that should tell me what it is

    Travis,

I think she looks like a fine little ship. Enjoy her!

It kinda looks like an O'Day Outlaw to me. Either way, she is a nice looking boat.

Good find! I was looking at that squarish after-hatch and the cockpit locker in the after portion of the seat instead of the middle... I agree with Fritz and Craig, that is indeed a fine looking vessel you got there and I'm sure she will gratefully return any and all the affections you afford her. (My first boat was also an O'Day.) And the price was right too! Congrats!
