2017 marks the end of an era for the hoppe

This edition of the Hoppe marked the end of an era. Solstice, Larry Rosenfeld’s cabin cruiser, has been sold and will no longer be the committee boat for the Hoppe. This ends a run that began in 2001. That’s sixteen years, in case you’re counting!. Larry, however, has agreed to remain a member of the race committee, thus assuring the group’s competence going forward.

As for a new committee boat, that discussion is just beginning. Next year’s race may have a start/finish in the traditional location from a new committee boar, or it may begin and end at the Sausalito Yacht Club’s race deck. We’ll keep you informed.

Three cheers for the skipper of Solstice. Well done and thank you from a past participant. I hope this does not mean that you are going to get stuck on the dock without a vessel in your future. Maybe this means that skipper Bill will have to bring ol' yeller out of her slip and fly the race flag.
