    Hull square footage

I am about to paint the bottom of my Commander. What is the underwater square footage of a Commander hull? This would help me in ordering the right amount of paint.

    Rudy,

I may be off on this one but I seem to recall figuring around 100-120. I always calculate long on paint because you never get 100% efficiency rolling or brushing. This goes way back in my memory which isn't that good so somebody check my numbers.

    Wetted hull area= l.o.a x max beam x 0.85.

Used this formula to calculate my barrier coat needs. Worked out with about 1/2 pint to spare over 5 coats. Not bad!

One gallon was just about right for Faith, IIRC 2 coats, with enough extra for a third coat on the bottom of the keel and misc areas with higher erosion.

Ditto. 1 gallon Pettit ablative paint leaves just a smidge left over...
