This Commander is in our registry. According to the ad, she's been donated to a charity. The data on the eBay site includes a marine survey (she's a fixer upper, for sure, but appears to have lots of potential.)

I was recently in a boatyard on Lake Texoma (Texas side) and ran across a Commander - number 18 - getting her bottom painted. There seem to be Commanders and Ariels everywhere you look. In commanders alone, there are more than few in the sf bay. One in Balena Isle Marina in Alameda (sad, but she floats) 3 active in Brisbane, 2 in Berkeley at the Cal sailing club 1 in the marina next to Svens on the estuary, and I am sure more I have not seen in person. does the registry show the number of our boats on the bay?
    thanks,
    Patrick

    Ha!
Congratulations C-227! I was wondering who the lucky winner was! Nice boat!
    299 is a good number!

    Patrick,
I've found the same thing while roaming the bay. I recently saw a 'new' Commander in Alameda (In good shape) and another in Sausalito (well used). I know there are more...

I've also seen a few Ariels that are not on the board... Last week I met an Ariel owner by chance at a party... Hmmm...

I've tried to encourage people to become 'active' in sailing with other A/Cs.

Ebay.... a curse for idle hands and minds

Well, It's a nice ride this time of year, I just got back from picking up an Electra (236) in Plainville CT this week.
It too was an Ebay moment for me as well

Well, It had been recently repainted, inside and out, new cushions, rule bilge pump with a float switch and a manual bilge pump, replacement stainless water tank, new marine deep cycle battery which still had a charge, completely rewired and a new electric panel. Also has sun covers for the grab rails and forward hatch and tiller. Today under a bunk I found three new Jim Buoy harnesses , a new bosun chair and a distress flag all in original packaging.
Now the bad, One side of the keel had been damaged by pounding on the rocks and will need rebuilding, it is all down low in the encased ballast area. Not terribly bad at all. The boat doesn't appear to have been submerged. The winches had been sold before I bought the boat and the rudder was missing.
I didn't bid on the mast which I regret now, it was a new dwyer and dwyer with a roller furling, that sold for $110
I can't understand why it didn't sell sooner, the owner sure tried it was advertised every where for a long time.
In retrospect I guess it was the best $20.50 I've spent in a while Although I spent TWICE the price of the boat to have a crane set it on my trailer
Is your Ariel in the water yet? I haven't done much to A259 and this is another distraction for me!

    Carl,
    I have a mold for Ensign/Electra rudders.
Let me know if you need me to build you one.

    Thanks,

    Thanks Mike,
I have a spare composite rudder that came with another Electra of mine, the shaft is loose on the rudder, I need to "dig" into this and see what the problem is. I will keep your offer in mind , Thanks again, Carl
