    wanted: 9.9hp outboard

I'm looking for a long shaft outboard motor, 9.9hp. The age doesnt matter to me as long as it runs good. I rather not pay more than $500. If anyone has one for sale let me know. Thanks.

Keep your eye on www.craigslist.com. I've seen some good deals on engines there before.

I have a 6hp suzuki 4 stroke long shaft that is for sale. It came with my boat but was in pretty poor shape. I took it apart and rebuilt it. It has a new water pump, brand new carby all new seals, zincs etc. and was just painted. Runs great now! I think it is a 2003.

I was hoping to get $650. PM if you are interested.

PS A 6HP can push an Ariel along at hull speed.

Ditto what Andrew says, and don't take my word for it, take Craig/Faiths word for it - he's used several.

Look here for his take on the subject:

    Post Outboard Discussions

The outboard discussion thread is an important read before purchasing an outboard engine.

    Suzuki 6hp for sale

Just a few other details of note.

I will be driving pretty much the entire length of the I-95 during early May (NC to FLA) and early June (NC to Maine) of this year so motor delivery along this corridor is possible.

The engine is essentially new but sat in the motor well for an unknown period of time. Hence the bad water pump, and carb. and minor paint corrosion. Like I said these have been replaced with new factory parts. I also stripped, cleaned and repacked the gear shift lever. Since this picture was taken I have also primed and painted from the engine cover down. It starts first pull now and runs with no problems.

I would like to sell it because I bought a new 6hp Tohatsu. I would also consider a trade for a "newer" model 2 hp for my tender.
