    Have you seen this one?

    http://www.sailboatlistings.com/view/41498

Original Carl Alberg design, hull #3. Built in 1963, significant refurbishments completed in 2008 and 2012. All topside decks re-cored, new nonskid and painted, shore water system installed, new freshwater tank and hand pump installed, new light fixtures and battery charger, new main sail cover, sunbrella covers for mahogany combing boards, and all interior surfaces painted.
It's a hike, but looks like it has potential.

    Ariel Wanted

Yes a ride. The owner is moving the boat from southern west coast out to the western part of the Florida panhandle. I almost bought her without seeing but...did not. I may be able to get to her for a look. I just sent the owner an email to see if the boat was moved as planned. Thanks for sending the ad. There is fixer upper Ariel here in NC..but I want to sail now.

Gil, please let us know the outcome. Boat was not in the db, so we have no information. That's a replacement builder's plate, BTW. Original plate says Bristol, RI.

I will let you know what happens. I am now in negotiations with the owner and we may have an agreement soon...I hope. Why would they change the town name on the makers plate? Is that a typical new plate that you have seen on other boats ?
Also the boat is listed as hull #3 can I expect to find the year and hull number on the transom of a 1963 boat and if not, can you tell me where to look ?

The city on the builder plate reflects Pearson's moving its operation around 1970. The plate is not original to your boat. Likely, someone removed the original. There is no other location of the hull number other than that found on the builder's plate. Sail numbers should also be "3."

I did some looking around and it seems that Pearson Corp. offices were in Portsmouth even when they were building boats in Bristol. I will have to find out why the owner believes the the boat is hull #3.

    Gil,

I think this thread might clear some things up. I am anchored in Clearwater aboard her right now.... Just set about typing you an email and was going to send you this link.... http://www.pearsonariel.org/discussi...t=Ariel+spirit

The plate is a Bristol bronze reproduction. Prior owners often keep the original plate as a souvenir (terrible habit). Keith had the replacement made, along with two Ariel plates. He had them chromed, there is a discussion of them on this site.

One is on the bulkhead (right above where I am typing this) the other is aboard my Ariel (#226 "Faith").... It was a gift in appreciation of my finding her the the boat and bringing it home.

    Ariel Spirit

Well, I am not buying Ariel spirit. She is on the move further from me and it is just not going to work out. While looking into shipping the boat this morning I discovered another boat that interests me...so life goes on. My heartfelt thanks to Capt. Craig
and the boats owner for being so patient and trying to help me work things out.
Someone in the Florida pan handle will get a great little boat.
