    Free Stuff

With great sadness I report that at least two Ariels were lost in Hurricane Ike: Chalupa (Hull 56) and Knotmeister (I wrote the hull number down, but lost it). Chalupa was purchased new by my father, restored by me, and never sailed by anyone but my father and me. I've purchased a Cape Dory 28 so won't need my 45 year stash of Ariel parts.

These parts are available to anyone who wants them. I'm willing to drop any part at my local PostNet shipper, let them box it and ship it, and trust that you will send me a check to compensate.

If you want something not on the list, email to ask if I have it: ted.mahavier(at)gmail.com.

Here's some of what I have:

    Main sliding hatch
    Reinforced forward hatch with hinges
Port and starboard running lights (originals, not aftermarket)
    Boom
Arrowhead and toggle (purchased new last year and on the boat for less than a year; purchased from the only website that sells them -- can't recall the name but I found it on this site)
Port and starboard cockpit locker covers with hinges
    Lazarette hatch cover and hinges
Tons of misc. A4 engine parts (pistons, valves, ...) (ask)
    cabin sole bilge covers

Tons more -- too much to list (ask).

    No masts, no sails.

    Interested in boom

I recently purchased an Ariel off ebay that is located in northern Alabama. I moved the boat to a marina last week and took inventory of parts etc as she had been sitting neglected for two years. Among the many projects needed is a boom so I am very interested in seeing if yours is available. Doug

Here are pix of some of the stuff I have available (boom and running lights are gone): a dinette table assembly, a swim ladder (needs refinishing, but works fine and has mounting hardware), cockpit hatches, reinforced forward hatch, lazarette, main hatch, icebox cover (both cabin and cockpit hatches available), cabin drawers (I have five in good condition).

Also I have engine parts galore (pistons, valves, fuel and water pumps, points, condensors, plugs,...) and hardware galore (turnbuckles, cabinet hinges, cabinet latches, cockpit latches, ...)

    more free stuff

Thanks to every one who is emailing -- I'll be shipping stuff out within a week or two. It pleases me to be moving stuff into piles in the shop:

Pile 1. Chalupa stuff I can use on "Pocket Change" my CD28.

Pile 2. Chalupa stuff that I am mailing out to people who need it!

    I Forgot to list:

    1. Also have the club published manual which every one who owns an Ariel should have.

    2. In the picture in previous post, is a cute little custom built epoxy coated mahagony hatch AC prop. Anyone who puts an AC in the hatch needs a good stand to prop the AC because it's HARD to jump that AC without stepping on it on the way into the cabin.

Very sad Chalupa was lost Ted. Lots of memories I'm sure

It's a very kind and generous offer you've made on the parts. The boat will live on and good karma is sure to follow
