    Melonseed Pete?

    Oh, my, god........

The melonseed is without peer. A guy in my club sails one, and it is a vision on the bay. But here's the thing - a couple of years ago, at a decoy show in south Jersey, I bought my alltime favorite boat, a hand built cedar Barnegat Bay Sneakbox with sail kit. She has a 90 sg.ft spritsail and daggerboard, and has a round spoon shaped bow where the melonseed has the sharper line, otherwise they are very similar. You will LOVE the MS! The sprit is an amazing and ancient design, mannerly and powerful, and there is a melonseed club similar to the Association to swap stories with. Sometimes they stand on the stern counter and ride downwind standing tall! Solo sailing is easy and a blast, and you can even get them to heave- to to take a nap. Congrats on a good buy.....

I looked at those oars, real nice. 7.5' spoons I think.

Should be getting the boat in August. I see goose hunting season starts in Sept. in Jersey. We could bag 8 each a day.

    It's a start

Pete, now that the season is over, how about a report on this "new gal" of yours?

Crewdog Molly approves of both the color and name of your new Melonseed.
