    WTB: Original standing rigging turnbuckle

    WTB: Original standing rigging turnbuckle

While sailing down the ICW near Topsail inlet, I had a minor
docking 'mishap' at a friends home. I bent the turnbuckle
on the starboard side (fore most shroud). I know many have
written that they have upgraded the standing rigging, and I
will eventually also but would like to replace just this turnbuckle
    for now.

Does anyone have an original (Ariel if it matters) turnbuckle
laying around? I know I can find something close at WM or
the hardware store, but would like to have them all the same
    if someone has an extra.

    Thanks,

    Craig

Take the old one with you when you go to purchase a new turnbuckle. You may be able to find a close match. To find an original type, however, I think you need to attend the next marine flea market . There's really no downside to using a different model of turnbuckle. In fact, I've seen a number of boats with mismatched turnbuckles. Why not start your your upgrade one turnbuckle at a time . .

    Thanks Bill

I will do that if no one has an extra one of the original ones laying around.

Did you get one yet Craig?

How many do you need iceman?

I've got about 6, WC 3/8. Could use cleaning and greasing, but they're straight.

Price is right--$0.00 each (plus tax)

    Talking Great~!

I have one that is bent badly, but for that price I would buy all 6.

Let's figure out what Iceman needs and I will shoot you some $ to cover shipping on the rest.

Thanks for taking a look for me.

    Thanks !!!

When I posted this request, I had hopes that someone might have an old frozen cast off turnbuckle in some forgotten corner of their basement that I could buy.

I thought I would have to pay a few bucks for something I was going to have to replace later on when I replaced the others I could not adjust, but what the heck.

Little did I expect that someone would send me enough to change not just the badly bent one, but the other 4 that were frozen or bent too!

....and pick up the tab for shipping.

Thanks alot commanderpete, you are a credit to the community.

I have 8 turnbuckles, several of them are original, if anyone is still interested. I replaced all the rigging, and the new rigging had all new turnbuckles. Let me know. theis@owc.net
