    Ariel #90 Whisper

    Just a quick post to mention that we ran into the owner of Ariel #90, 'Whisper' the other day.

    Mike, (Chicago Mike) is a great guy who helped us out and we enjoyed comparing notes. He has moved the boat to Hope Town Bahamas, and has no intention of ever bringing her back. It is ideal cruising grounds here, with 700 islands all within a weeks sail.

    Here are a couple of pictures;

    This one was taken the next day from the Hopetown light house;

    Whisper in the Ariel gallery

    Rose and I had the opportunity to meet Frank Durrant last night in Manatee Pocket, right off of the St. Lucie river in FL.

    We had just returned from the Bahamas, and he was getting ready to sail back.

    In discussing the wonderful trip we had, I mentioned Chicago Mike's Ariel #90 (Whisper) and Frank pointed out that he had posted pictures of the same boat here before.

    Bill,

    Please merge these threads, sorry to have not searched for the boat name first.....

    An old friend

    We also saw 'Whisper' in the Bahamas, in January of 2006. My wife Maria and I are the former owners of Ariel hull #90, having sold her a few years before. Her new owner, Mike, had said that he was going to take her to 'Hopetown in the Bahamas', but that meant little to us at the time. We had already purchased a newer, bigger boat, an Alberg 30. A few years after selling Whisper, we decided to retire and move aboard a slightly bigger boat, a Cape Dory '33', another Alberg design. While visiting Hopetown in 2006, we had climbed the lighthouse and looking down saw a familiar shape in the boatyard below. On further examination, we discovered 'Whisper' and remembered what the new owner had said about bringing her to the Bahamas. Having sailed in the Bahamas for the past three winters, we can't think of a better place to be, both for 'Whisper' and for us. Here is the view we saw from the top of the lighthouse, and a picture of her former owners.

    Thumbs up Too cool!

    Vince,

    That is too cool. Thanks for logging in to let us know about it. As I mentioned, Mike is a great guy and is taking good care of your old boat.

    I got the 'red x of death' in place of the picture in your post so I followed the link to re-post the picture for all to see.
