    Lifelines

    I'm in need of lifelines.

How much would a single set of lifelines cost?

If I were to get some from another boat, could they be shortened?

Any of the big rigging shops will probably give you a quote. You could try JSI or Riggingonly.

To do it yourself would require an expensive crimping tool. Most West Marine stores have a table with a crimper you can borrow. But, you'll pay more for the wire and fittings. You only save the cost of a machine swage which might be only $8-10 each anyway.

The ones for Ariel Spirit were ~$300 for uppers and lowers, with pelican hooks on all 4.

Thanks for the replies guys. The quotes I've gotten have been from $350-$500. Ouch! ...I need a raise.

Haven't tried CPete's yet - thanks for the pointers.
