Hi Mike, I read with interest your postings about powering your Ariel with a diesel. I have a South Cost 23, the Alberg designed little sister of the Ariel, and have a few questions about your process if you don't mind. I'm about to undertake this same install activity in mine, and they were never offered with an inboard, so breaking new ground here. Main question is how you drilled your shaft hole and were able hit the aperture/keel profile so accurately in the middle. Or, is it that when you cut your prop aperture in the rear of the keel, were you left with a hole through to the bilge area that you then just had to glass around? I've been looking closely at the pictures and descriptions and cannot tell which was the case. If you want to email me directly, that would be great. My email is joey.stubbs@earthlink.net. Thanks for your time. Your posts are a tremendous resource. Joey Stubbs Port Orchard WA
Hey Mike.... My name is Mike Bowman from the Birmingham area. I also have a Ariel but sad to say is beyond repair. She is going to the "man with the saw". I am wanting to part out the boat. Is there anything you need for your "sweetheart"? I have a few sails: storm jib, genoa, and spinnaker. I have a very good spinnaker pole. And of course all the winches, blocks, etc. Since you are close I wanted to offer some them to you before putting them on Craig's list. My phone number is 205-577-0656 or email at mikesails4him@yahoo.com It is very sad parting with her but time, money, and ability wont allow me to continue on the refit. She is just too far gone any way let me know! mike
