FS: Bimini

Royal Blue, in excellent condition with dark blue cover and mounting hardware. Came with my boat (#97) and I dont ever plan on using.

I took it off the boat so I cant give you any pictures of it 'set'.

trade for other sailing gear or Pearson hardware...

well, i have seen them for sale from any where from 150-800 for similar models. how about 250.00

yeah, i really wasnt sure about what this thing is worth. ill have to look for a name tag... but, to me this thing is worthless, i dont really get putting a bimini on such a sailboat...

Since no one is interested in buying the bimini.... How about a trade for other sailboat hardware?

I'd highly recommend you hang on to that bimini. It may not be of a lot of use further north, but once you get down here, sailing in the shade in summer is a *Godsend*. It adds a whole new dimension to the usability of the boat. In addition, especially on our somewhat diminutive craft, having a sort of 'roof' over the cockpit gives a nice porch, an extra room, when not sailing. Last, when not sailing, especially down south, every bit of shade on your boat during the day will make it cool off that much faster at night. My first year living aboard I didn't use tarps or bimini or any shade, and it would be midnight before the boat was cool enough inside that you would stop sweating *while just sitting still* inside the boat. With shade, the interior temp starts to drop as soon as the sun does.

If the above doesn't convince you, then re: value - it really comes down to the frame. Stainless frames are worth twice or more the cost of aluminum. Retail new biminis - like from Overtons or online - you'll see the low cost ones down around $100-150, they'll have aluminum frames and use a non-Sunbrella fabric (like polyester SharkSkin, not solution-dyed acrylic). Put a stainless frame under that same fabric, and the cost jumps to $250 or better.

But if you are really heading S this coming year and you keep that bimini, you WILL be thankful that you did. :)

I hear you on the shade thing, however the frame is completely in the way getting into the main hatch and moving forward to the deck. also, it can not be stowed below deck without also being in the way... I was planning on making a couple awnings out of used sails. one for the cockpit and one for the foredeck. the only ***** is that awnings cant be used while sailing.

Just a thought - put the bimini mounts on a short track so that you can move it to the best position for a given activity (or lack thereof ;) ).

I understand the 'constriction' experienced when moving forward/back into cockpit, but it really is worth that few moments of "not ideal" to be able to sit in the shade while underway of a long, hot afternoon...

IMO, of course. :)
