I manage to snatch two Electras from the jaws of death this weekend! One Electra on a cradle from upstate NY, and one Electra from MD that was headed to the scrap heap. The NY boat, I know little about other than it needs a refit..... ( what's new???) , comes with all riggging and complete set of sails. The MD boat was sailed up until last Summer. The MD boat was owned by an elderly couple, when they got too old to sail ( how old is that anyway?) they gave it to neighbors to use. It got passed through the neighborhood to use until last Fall when it was hauled out. The marina discovered that the mast base was sinking into the deck and told the owners it was too dangerous to sail. The marina was supposed to give a estimate to repair but never did, so the present owners decided to junk it out or find someone willing to haul it off and repair. Comes with multiple headsails , main and a spinnaker. I'll have to build a cradle before going after this one. I have two trips coming up to bring these boats to GA.... 2700 miles, 10 miles per gallon, $4.00 per gallon, GEEZ!!! even free/cheap has gotten expensive!!

Got both these boats home to GA, The NY boat came with a brand new main and jib. The Genoa is probably original 1963 vintage but in good shape. Hull number 278. The deck has a few soft spots but nothing major. Great hull, good rudder. The MD boat which was sailed in the bay right up to last Summer is another story. The 5 sails had some how disappeared from the boat and were at Bacon sails if I wanted to buy them back! What???? This boat has literally no deck coring left anywhere, the fact that it hadn't collasped on itself is amazing. The reason it came in for repairs was one of the lower rear shrouds broke and the lady wanted a quote on rerigging. The price led her to give up the boat and of course quit paying the storage bill. In MD the last owner to register a boat is legally responsible for the boat even if it has been sold to another person. The previous owner offered the boat to me for removal.
