This afternoon we got a break from the rain , so we launched and rigged Robert Lemasters Commander 105 " Sparkey" . Help from his brother-in-law Warren , my wife Claire and some of the yard folks .

Here it is heading for the water .

That Nissan 6hp 4 stroke pushes her nicely .

Into the slip with a contrary breeze and no mishaps , plenty of time for that later .

Good looking Commander. All the hardware on "Sparkey" looks original and in good condition. Where in Virginia is the marina and will the boat be dry stored in the winter?

Sparkey is in Portsmouth , Va. on the Western Branch of the Elizabeth River just about 2.5 miles from the site of the 1st battle of the ironclads , Monitor vs Virginia (ex- Merrimac ).
We can sail 12 months around here , with rare freezes maybe every 10 years . In 1984 we sailed 359 times , 2 days missed from illness & 4 from storms . Less than 1% of the boats in this area winter on the hill . Our best sailing is Sept. thru May , summers are light , flukey and hot .

I agree: nice looking Commander. I hope to post similar pictures next week of Lady J's launch.

As a newbie, I'm confused about something...(actually about many things). What are those lines that run from the pulpit to the mast?

Mark, I assume it's Jib and main halyards attached there to keep them from slapping against the mast. Right Mike?

That's it , just the spinaker halyard and jib halyard . Trying to sort everything out for Robert . The red line is the spinaker and will stay up there unless being used . I need to splice the shackles back on the new line .
We hope to get some shots of #45 & 105 together soon .
