Those pictures really tell the story. I'm really glad to see Grace is weathering the storm. Hope the water receeds soon.

The word is that Ariel 109 Noesis has survived Irene. Yesterday I tied an additional bridal between the mooring ball and the mast-step. Removed the sails and stashed them below in the cabin.
My mooring has plenty of scope and is on the protected west side of City Island near the bridge. Irene thankfully seems to have lost much of her power by the time she flew over this area. Still, I've been told that four sailboats are grounded nearby.
The S-boats all ran for safe cover on Friday to a spot deep within Mamaroneck Harbor.

Moved Francine to Sayville on Friday, was a tight spot but Ocean Beach woudl have been brutal. No word on how she fared.

I really hope both of your boats survive without damage.
Ben it sounds like your are hearing possibly from friends that Noesis is OK. I hope that is exactly what you find when you can see her for yourself.
As a Floridian I know how bad hurricanes can be. And while Irene had lost most of her steam by the time she got up there it can still be pretty bad.
Hurrican Charlie did major damage to the town of Punta Gorda when it came through. That is one of my favorite sailing grounds here. Charlie caused a LOT of boats to be chain sawed up and hauled to landfills. I'm glad Irene had calmed down to tropical storm status by the time she reached you.

Went up to City Island this afternoon to check on the Ariel and get out of the house. Everyone at the marina was relieved at the minimal damage that Irene inflected. I'd been told the floating docks at Johnny B's were moving like the old Tacoma Narrows Bridge in the early morning portion of the storm.
We then made our way up to Mamaroneck to check on the S-Boats at Brewers. Paul the manager and his crew packed safe and tight an array of the areas sail and power boats in a matter of hours. Here are some pictures.

Hello All!
Stuck in Winston-Salem this weekend and could not get to the Marina to check out the A107 to see if she survived. Could not get up with anybody and the local newspaper is the only source of information I have (no power and internet down there right now and the only cell numbers I have are going straight to voicemail).
I have attached a few pics that show you the marina damage reported in the paper, none of the pics show mine (which may be a good or bad thing depending).
I am told many of the sailboats on the hard in the boat yard floated off their stands.
The first pic is a historical shot of the Marina Docks before the Fire burnt one of the covered docks. The power boat sitting in the road is supposed to be at Capt. Sams Boatyard but is sitting about 200 feet from where mine is SUPPOSED to be.

I've seen pictures like these before but they were down here. The boat in the road has a sailboat behind it off the stands. I sure hope A107 is OK. Let us know when you see her.
We got off a lot easier here in Maine than you guys South of us! Plenty of rain and wind, but Irene veered West so we didn't take the brunt. I checked on Ed Foster's Ariel Orca, out at our rather exposed mooring field and it looks like she came through fine. I've gotta say though, this is the first time this Summer I was glad I didn't get in the water this season!
Best wishes Jake and Greg! Let us know how you fared.

I had posted this in the Gallery section meaning to post it here instead so I will just insert the quoted material here:
Went by the Marina Saturday night, it was a busy Labor Day weekend for my family and that was the only time I could fit the trip in, and there were more vessels in the boat yard than I could fathom. There was one clear spot and that's where my Ariel was supposed to be... it was dark, I was in someone else's car and we had no flashlight and there was a hole in the yard. She had been moved but she was there, inspection inside the cabin interior revealed bone dry conditions which I didn't expect due to the partially opened seacock, apparently if she floated, little water entered that port. I was EXTREMELY lucky. She was sitting under 2 dozen pine trees.
