Hello to all who get this message now that i can post. I want you to know I am truly delighted and greatful to be a member here and all the hardwork and ideas i've seen are very helpful and inspirational and I will need alot of both for i found the old posts of commander 5 here and so i have some insight on whats been done and let me fill you in from where he left off. He stopped posting in winter of 2006 and evidently sold the old girl to the man i got her from who also never sailed her and she sat in the water at his dock in St. Leonards creek in St. Marys City Md. every since while he removed parts but he did send the sails out to be repaired. While it sat it suffered some hurricane damage and filled with water 4 erinches above the floor during the blizzard of 2010 but she does'nt leak at all. The previous owner never stained or sealed the exterior wood so it is grey and split in places . The owner advertised her as a free sailboat on craigslist due to his ailments it was to much for him to keep up and my girlfriend saw it because i'd promised i'd take her sailing so I jumped on it got title changed over and picked her up july 31st and sailed her 12 hrs to her new home where I've been sailing her every saturday out of the patuxent river at solomons island md. will have pics up soon and i have a real project on my hands she has a baby blue topdeck and white above the waterline and sails with the best of em I raced two 35 ft boats down the potomac and over 4 miles had a mile lead on them so I love her already and have'nt even pushed her to the limit.

Welcome aboard Commander 5. I really like that we seem to be having a larger commander participation than was common in the past. While we share many characteristics with the Ariels we are also differant in several important ways. So I am especially happy to see yet another commander join the forum.

Please do post pics as soon as you can and...
