The Ragged Point Yacht Club (http://raggedpointyachtclub.sytes.net/) based on the New River, NC is holds a regatta to honor a great Sailor who was taken from us way too early. It is our (I say our, as a past Commodore I feel forever a part of it).

The Jim Taulbee Memorial ‘Pop Tart’ Regatta is the big race every year (this was the 6th). Jim was loved by all and his regatta is the big race of the year. This year's race was last Saturday, and there were 11 boats racing PHRF. Now the river is a great place to sail, but not exactly perfect racing grounds for the Ariel (lighter winds dominate this time of year).

Under the expert helmsmanship of Capt. Mark Sopkiw, the victor was 'Ariel Spirit' (A-3). Did us proud against many 'faster' boats. (http://raggedpointyachtclub.sytes.net/race_results.html) :D

I know most here don't know the club, or Jim, or Mark... but thought you might like to know that Ariel Spirit is still out there showing the colors. :D
