A duck has found a way into the lazarette of my Commander and has set up nest-keeping. The yard owner says this happens to a few boats every year. He's had people use their boats 2-3 times a week for day trips with the eggs and/or the hatched chicks in various places. The mother ducks seem to just wait until the boats return then go back to tending to the family. When the little ones get big enough, they all leave. A cold spring can mean eggs up against cold fiberglass never hatch and it has been chilly lately so we'll need to wait and see.

I'll keep you posted.

Jerry,
Great shot of something I never even heard of. Are you coast guard compliant in regard to PFD (personal floatation devices) for all bodies embarked? Little ducklings? You may get "boarded" when out to sea by an angry and agressive mother. Keep a vigilant watch and repel all unwelcome boarders.

Thanks for the shot. It's everything it has quaked up to be.
