I think it would be a great idea if as many of the Mid-Atlantic members of this discussion group who can make it attend The Good Old Boat Magazine Regatta sponsored by the Shearwater Sailing Club (near Annapolis) on October 10th and 11th, 2009. I've contacted the folks at Shearwater and they would be glad to have members of this group show up just for the skipper's party on Saturday even if they do not bring a boat or enter the races. Shearwater would appreciate a modest cash donation for the food at the door if you have not paid an entry fee. The regatta is open only to boats built before 1975 so all of us would certainly be among birds of a feather with or without our boats.

Details of this year's race other than the dates are not available but you can find out about Shearwater here:

I'm committed to bring my Commander down from Baltimore. One of my crew seats has already been claimed by Chance Smith (Cieli). If we get five boats they will score us as a class in the Regatta. If we got some ink in the magazine that would be frosting on a great cake.

Jerry,
Thanks for the plug! Most definately looking forward to sailing with during the transit South to the regatta and return North to Baltimore. I'll be taking vacation time off, so there is no question you can count on me to assist and enjoy in the festivities, comraderie, food, etc..

I was thinking of driving up to your house Thursday before the regatta and then we get underway Friday and sail the return leg back to Baltimore the following Monday, with myself departing Tuesday. Was this what your movement thoughts / plans were?

Also, thanks again for your assistance a couple weeks ago. If your in need of any components for your Commander, I may be able to assist. Just let me know.

Is it October yet? Sure to be some beautiful brightwork and many classics of the Alberg and Rhodes venue.

Thanks for drawing this event to my attention. We- new owners of Ariel #44, formerly named Mischief, renamed by us Louise Michel- will be heading south around that time and will put it on our calender. Hope to meet you and other Ariel owners.
Meanwhile would love to be in contact with other Ariel owners in NYC area. We keep her in Mill Basin, just off Jamaica Bay.
