I'm looking at buying a Pearson Ariel, but also looking at a bristol 27 what are the pros and cons to each boat and any major construction issues that plague either boat, If any one has thoughts on the issue let me know,
thanks

both are very similar boats (same designer and yes one of the pearson brothers founded bristol yachts after selling Pearson Yachts to Grumman)
the Bristol 27 will have a little more headroom below (although both have more headroom than most modern fin keelers of the same length). (B27's displace 6600# vice the Ariel's 5600# (or so)). one thing to check for is a seam down the center line of the hull. If my memory on the bristol 27 is correct (I may be confusing it with the B29), the hull was laid up as a left and right halves and glued together before the deck went on. One boat my father in-law sailed aboard had a crack in that seam that needed to be repaired by the factory. 35 to 40 years latter, this isn't a major issue. if the crack shows up - grind it out and glass the seam.
There is a B27 we occasionally come across in the upper narragansett bay. With similar headsails speeds were about the same to windward (i.e equally slow).
they are both good looking boats (as is the pearson triton). That said, i'm hooked on the Ariel (or the Cape Dory 33, has any one seen hull number 24??)
Not sure what your requirements are, but the most immediate thing that comes to mind is an enclosed head. I've been mulling over ideas on converting my Ariel to an enclosed head for a little more privacy for coastal cruising with a family of four.
Strictly subjective - I really like the looks of our Ariels and love how mine sails. Something you may also want to consider; I also like my inboard model - it drives the hull nicely no matter what the conditions are like.

So... did you buy an Ariel then?? If so, a hearty congrats!
I checked your profile for a boat number and didn't see one. But I DID see you're a furniture maker!?! Now you know that you really MUST post pictures and methods as you dress up your new girl! :D
