Innishfree is a sail boat idea for a young family looking for a very real but professional sailing experience. It is a simple boat to sail yet performs well and has the features of a much larger vessel. The cockpit is hugh (over 10 feet long) and can accomodate 8 adults with ease. The cabin is small but comfortable for a small family wishing to get into sailing and overnighting at a very affordable price. The full keel and sloop rig makes for a stable and seaworthy sailing experience.

The boat is outfitted with a standing rig built to a standard well above the norms of today. There are two well maintained winches for sheeting the jib and two winches on the coachhouse for raising the sails.

Jib sheets and halyards were replaced in the last year with new braid. The boat comes with a storm jib and a relatively new #2 cut above the deck for better visiblity. The main is in good condition and has many more years left in it. The boat sails at hull speed with less than a fresh breeze.

The boats ground tackle, Anchor, rode, lines and fenders are in first class condition and overdesigned for crusing.

Innishfree is unique in that it is helmed with an after market maple wheel and binnacle with compass. An emergency tiller is stowed but has never been used.

The auxillary outboard and two portable fuel tanks are contained in a lazarette in the counterdeck . The outboard has been replaced with a new Mercury 9.9 longshaft and has currently less than 10 hours of total running time.

The hull is in excellent condition characteristic of the days when significant high quality fiberglass matt was used in boat building. Hull was refinished prior to launch by current owner in 1998 on the Ottawa River at Britannia Yacht club.

The recent upgrades and replacements include the marine toilet and all waste water plumbing, all cockpit drain hoses, high capacity electric bilge pump, feshwater system hoses, electrical system wiring to the panel including battery switch for two deep cycle batteries, new fuse/switch panel and solar panel charging system, and stereo radio system suitable for use with an IPOD.s recently updated electric bilge pump.

It is my hope that the boat will be sold to a sailor, or a soon to be sailer ,that will recognize the beauty and safety inherent in this classic design and recognize the care and attention that has be given to this vessel.
