S/V Kestrel, Pearson Ariel hull #1, is up for sale.
After a beautiful 7-year-long restoration(reconstruction) by an experienced boat builder, Kestrel proved her seaworthiness on a voyage from the Chesapeake Bay to the Bahamas and back again. She's a sturdy, fast boat, ideal for a weekend trip.
Kestrel's intensive restoration and her recent voyage have been featured in a number of articles. (Soundings January 2008, The Ariel Newsletter, more to come... )
During her restoration, Kestrel was completely overhauled. She now has solid new decks, a sturdy Yanmar 2GM Diesel engine, and a beautiful custom built cherry interior.
Here are some additional highlights from her renovation:
-Decks and coach roof repaired/replaced
-Re-powered with a rebuilt Yanmar 2GM Diesel
-Interior completely redesigned and built in hardwood
-New Marine Head installed
-New Forward Hatch Installed
-New Chainplate for Backstay
-New Spray Dodger/Sea Hood installed.
Her owners will be sorry to see her go, but they have grudgingly decided that they need a larger boat for their future voyages.
The asking price is $14,500.
