Just back from visiting family in Nova Scotia.Judy is from Long Island out near the end of the 'Digby spit'...Nova Scotia, bay of fundy (just across from Maine). After Long Island where her mom still lives in the old homestead of 3 generations,is Westport...now called Brier Island. Brier Island is famous worldwide for birds and whales. Her dad was raised on Long island...her mom on Brier Island. They dated 'by ferry'. Brier Island was also home to Josua Slocum. He was born on North mountain ,but lived in Westport until taking off to sea at 16yrs old. Slocum...Pardey...the Bluenose...I guess Canada has a pretty good sailing history. It is always nice to visit the Islands. The breese ALWAYS blows, the people are very friendly and Judy's mom spoils us with her baking and kindness.Locals go 'for free' on the boats whale watching if they're not sold out. The plaque is to Joshua Slocum and sits at Westport overlooking the channel to long island
