consider this a plea for a hopeless cause....

There are two Ariels I know of in Rhode Island that need new homes. This is the info on the first one...

She's been out of the water since 1978. I tried to buy her in the late 90's (too hard to find the owner I was told)....

Hull number Ariel-409
Registration: RI7864E (expired 1978)
Condition: hull & deck are complete; gelcoat is good. has had some water below.
Inboard A4 (appears factory installed)
Rigging: mast and boom may be located on site. not present on the boat
name: "In God We Trust" (has a double headed eagle on the transom)
location: Portsmouth RI (41:35:32N 71:17:10W)
(abandon boat pile at New England Boatworks)
www.neboatworks.com

Last word I got was that lots of folks still ask about her.
The answers vary from (1) either not for sale or (2) too hard to get a clear title....
scuttlebutt at the yard is that A409 allegedly belonged to the sister of the previous operator of the site when it was still called Bend Boat Basin.

anyone who wants to chase this lead should probably start with :

NE Boatworks Marina Manager Stan Piszcz at
401-683-4000

She's a sound project and likely to go cheap if someone can just talk the yard into a bill of sale....

the attached map shows where the ariel is located:

It is sometimes amazing to me the different regulations in different states, I have the title on 3 Pearsons 2 Ariels and 1 Triton, which are really worthless in the state of GA. They do not title boats here. I can't even get the out of state titles switched over into my name. What to register a boat? No title ? just bring it to GA, pay the $25 registration fee and go boating. You don't even need a bill of sale. Actually you don't even have to have a registration , just carry a copy of the form you filled out and mailed in and go on the water. I do love those low RI registration numbers. If I remember correctly my Dad's boat was RI 25 P. I want to USCG document the Triton but don't know if I can do that since GA won't transfer the MD title for me. 409 like Periwinkle remained loyal to it's RI "roots".
