"Equipped To Survive TM is the most comprehensive online resource for independant reviews of survival equipment and outdoors gear, as well as survival and Search and Resue information. ETS does NOT sell equipment. The ETS Web site is a non-profit educational endeavor edited by noted survival authority Douglas S. Ritter."

It is well worth your time to take a look. Lots of blue lines to explore.
The site is driven by a very strong personality. EG, Doug's review of Leatherman Multi Tools is incredible, comparing new models with old side by side in exhaustive detail. Has short videos, many closeup fotos comparing details and functions in an informative no-noncense rambling style of writing. Which model has the better knife blade? If this is the one tool you've taken up the mast, can you open it with gloved hands? which sheath (reviewed too)? Better take that little crescent wrench with you!
The subject is pretty serious and the money you spend on the best survival gear is pretty serious too.

He reviews Laser Flares
405Mhz PLBs and registration
Personal Survivor Kits
Abandon Ship Bag Recommendations
Aviation Life Raft Review (more than comprehensive!!)
LED Flashlight Review and a
Failed Attempt Sailing to Hawaii by the skipper
with an independant analysis of the disaster.

So, if you can't figure out which Leatherman to buy yourself or a friend for Solstice (maybe I can afford one this year), you can get knowledge here. Imco this is as unbiased as you can find anywhere.
And your life may depend on it. :D

If Practical Sailor and Consumer Reports are for the CONSUMER,
Equipped To Survive is for the...............................SURVIVOR.
